Thomas Dolby
From his breakout MTV hits She Blinded Me With Science and Hyperactive to his immaculate keyboard work with Foreigner, Bowie, Roger Waters, Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, Joni, Quincy Jones, George Clinton and Prefab Sprout, Thomas Dolby has always found a way to make his synths sound symphonic. Now he has created Requiem For The 80s , a hybrid symphony in five movements, blending retro electronic sounds with beautiful orchestral arrangements that unpack and re-imagine some of the finest music of that decade. The show will be ready for its symphonic première in Fall 2026, after which Thomas plans to bring his creation to some of the top concert halls and orchestras in the world. Unlike other ‘tribute’ pops shows, what sets Requiem for the 80s apart is that Thomas Dolby was actually there... rubbing shoulders with The Cure, Grace Jones, XTC, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, and the Art of Noise; with Siouxsie, the Smiths, Peter Gabriel, and Kate Bush. He tells his own deeply personal story of that decade in a humorous, confessional style, while the band and orchestra weave together musical motifs from the era that most influenced him, and that he influenced
the most.
